Comfort Suites

The person at the front desk was exceptionally nice when we checked in, and the lobby and front areas were clean. Our bed was comfortable enough for a decent night’s sleep, and the staff member was helpful and quick to respond when we reported a problem. That’s why this is a two-star review instead of one. The room was full of ladybugs and stink bugs, both dead and alive, and there were sand spurs on the floor. I walk around barefoot, and anyone who’s stepped on one knows how frustrating that is. I liked the carpet-free luxury vinyl plank flooring, which usually feels clean, but the bugs ruined that. Our heating and cooling unit ran continuously with a loud clunk, and staff couldn’t fix it, so we had to turn it off for the rest of the stay. The tub wouldn’t drain, leaving ankle-deep water, and the shower curtain was torn and worn, though it still worked. Dogs are mixed in with tired travelers, and the dog next door barked constantly from 7 AM. I strongly feel dog owners should be kept to one floor. Bringing a pet is a privilege, and non-dog people shouldn’t have to put up with barking or allergens in their room. They even allow dogs in the breakfast area. The milk in the fridge was expired, and the hard-boiled eggs had been peeled before storage, which felt unhygienic and left them shriveled and inedible. The bananas were nearly ready for banana bread.

The housekeeping team kept the hotel very clean and well maintained each day. I found the bed extremely comfortable, and the room had a cozy feel. It’s a lovely place for a restful getaway.

The staff were great and friendly, and the location is excellent, near restaurants with easy highway access. The stay was very comfortable. I’d have given five stars, but the interior needs some repairs. I also would have liked carpet in my room, and the TVs really need updating.

For a three-star hotel, this was solidly in that range. Better than a cheap motel, but I don’t think it was worth the price. The two desk attendants we saw weren’t welcoming. The breakfast woman was the one friendly and pleasant person, and the rest of the staff did the bare minimum. Housekeeping also bothered us, including coming in right after I told them someone was still in the room. Other frustrations: the Wi-Fi didn’t work, so we signed into Marriott for the Fairfield across the street. The walls were thin, and we could hear rooms and hallway noise. Water pressure dropped when someone presumably flushed a toilet somewhere. There was no bathtub drain plug. The pool was minuscule, and there was no hot tub. The location was convenient for the highway, restaurants, and stores. Coffee and creamer were ready, and the breakfast worker was friendly. Breakfast wasn’t great, but it was edible and had some variety, including bagels, muffins, dry biscuits and gravy, and waffles.
