Alex was the one who took care of us whenever we needed anything, and I saw her almost every day. The other front desk young woman was a gem too, though I can’t remember her name. I think she said she was 27, and she was a young Black woman. If it weren’t for Alex, I think my rating would be lower. The breakfast was really bad. I love breakfast, and after more than 35 years in the restaurant business, I know it shouldn’t be that hard to get right, but I couldn’t find a single thing I liked. We had to switch rooms because the tub was dirty and wouldn’t drain, which was disgusting. We asked if it could be fixed since it was Christmas, but the man at the desk said nobody was there to do repairs. The TV was half the size, and we kept meeting employees who didn’t smile or say hello or goodbye. The maids really need to pay attention to the ring around the tub.

It was below freezing during our stay, so having coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available all the time was perfect for warming up. The lobby always had people hanging around, which made it feel cozy, and the Dove hair and body products were a nice surprise. Breakfast had good options, including omelettes and pancakes. The hotel was clean and convenient, with plenty of dining nearby. I’d stay again.

The room was very clean, and the front desk was great. But the shower setup is ridiculous: there’s no door, and if someone used it before you, you end up standing in cold water. The beds were really uncomfortable too. Management should spend a night in the beds at the HIE in bricktown. Our TV needed two remotes, and although it was supposed to connect to Netflix and other streaming services, it never got online. On top of that, kids were running and screaming down the hall at 4:30 in the morning. Parents, teach your children.

Eden was working the front desk when we arrived late, tired after driving all day. I’d booked a different location 13 miles away by mistake, and I was traveling with my 86-year-old mom. I’m 65. Eden quickly checked whether there was an accessible room available, and there was. They had me call the other hotel to cancel, then booked us into a lovely room at the same price I’d been quoted. Everything was clean and spacious, and breakfast was very good. We also bought microwave meals, Pineapple Chicken and Lasagna, from the vending area, and they were good too. Thank you, Eden and Holiday Inn, for such a great team and room.
