The Holiday Motel & Restaurant

It’s a cheap place, so you get what you pay for. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and there were no bugs, which matters most at this price. Fine for somewhere to sleep, and that’s about it.

The place was nasty and I couldn’t enjoy staying there. The new owners and staff don’t communicate with each other, which caused a problem for me. There were some bugs around too. Be careful where you stay.

The service was good, and the cheesy chicken tortilla soup was still a favorite. Our server was attentive and did a wonderful job, about a 4.5 on its own. The soup gets a solid 4. We’ve often eaten here before, and the regular menu has been consistently good. We’ve also enjoyed the breakfasts, soup and salad bar, and sandwiches. The catfish sandwich at the next table looked amazing. But our recent seafood buffet visit was a disappointment. It was early, before 7 pm, and the buffet was already poorly stocked. The food wasn’t kept properly warm. Seafood meant catfish, popcorn shrimp, and sauteed shrimp, alongside fried chicken. The popcorn shrimp was overcooked, yet the coating wasn’t crisp. It seemed to have sat under a heat lamp before going out, and the other buffet items seemed similar. The fried chicken was unusually dry, with bland coating. The steamed broccoli was mushy and flavorless. The breaded cauliflower was decent when it was fresh. I hope this was a fluke. For now, we’ll stick to ordering from the menu and hope they address the buffet issues.

We come to the area to fish and always stay at The Holiday. The rooms aren’t especially modern, but that doesn’t bother us. They’re clean, the beds and pillows are comfy, and the staff are super friendly. We enjoy the restaurant too. The soup and salad bar is great, and we’ve had breakfast, lunch, and dinner there with plenty of variety. We’ll be back, as always!
