I had children with me and was already dealing with a stressful home situation, so after driving an hour for this emergency stay, being unable to check in was especially upsetting. I went to the office and waited a long time, then sat in my car for quite a while in case someone came out. I called around ten times hoping the clerk would answer and know I was there, but nobody showed up. It got late, so we drove back home. I’ll give them a little benefit of the doubt since it was late, but I still don’t understand why nobody was there. I expected a cheap, rough room because I was in a pinch and had seen the bad reviews. Instead, I never got into a room at all. This place sucks. There are more expensive places in Omak, and they’re worth paying for instead of trying to stay here.

Three of the five of us ended up sleeping in our cars somewhere else. One person’s room had brown and yellow marks on the sheets and dirty pillows, so he used a space blanket and sleeping bag. Another found bleach smell and blood on a pillow, and someone else saw blood on the ceiling and a pillow. Several of us had headaches within ten minutes in rooms that smelled of bleach. My own supposedly freshly cleaned room had white stains on the sheets, holes in the blanket, stained pillows, and unexplained black specks on the bed. I can’t say what those specks were. There was noise all night, though it was Friday, and people were smoking by my room. I also saw a naked man watching TV through an open ground-floor window. It’s a cheap motel, next to an Asian Mexican restaurant, and seemed like a place people end up when they’re short on cash or options. Two of our group stayed, and they were upset that we hadn’t told them we left. The hotel had filled our rooms within two hours, so they seemed fine, while we’re trying to get a refund. If you have nowhere else and are willing to take the risk, that’s your call. For hygiene, a tent in the woods might be better. I wouldn’t consider it safe for a woman traveling alone, and I’d only suggest it if you’re drunk, have no valuables in the car, and aren’t worried about sketchy people.

The place felt unsafe and unhealthy inside and out, and the whole property was filthy and run down. We’d booked a king room with a whirlpool tub, but were told on arrival it wasn’t ready and were moved to another room. Its bathroom floor was black and dirty, with a used mop and broom behind the door. After we complained, we were given a third room. That one had no whirlpool, a torn and stained bedspread, filthy stained towels, and curtains full of holes that didn’t fit the windows. We ended up going to a campground after they had already taken our payment. The office person said he’d talk to the manager about a refund, but we never heard back. We couldn’t reach anyone when we tried calling the office, and found at least five different phone numbers listed for the same place. There were no-smoking signs, but employees sat at tables just below my room in a designated table area. The vending machines and TVs didn’t work, and there were broken signs on everything. Choice Hotels should be embarrassed to advertise or support Rodeway Inn and Suites in Omak Washington. I didn’t want to give it even one star, but the site required one to post.

It’s been decent, with no noise and rooms that are okay, about what you’d expect from an average Motel 6. I’d give it a 4, though it doesn’t feel like a true four-star place. The area is intimate.

The bed was surprisingly comfortable, almost like sinking into a cloud, but little bugs were crawling around and turned the night into a stretch of squashing them instead of sleeping. The motel looked as if it hadn’t had a proper scrub in ages. The floors were grimy, and the showers looked like mold might be setting in.
