Hampton Inn Chattanooga - North/Ooltewah

The room was low quality: it wasn’t cleaned once all weekend, the pool and hot tub were closed, and my family’s room had no heat during a snowstorm. There was also a strange sound from the radiator, almost like bugs, and breakfast was inedible. The billing experience was even more frustrating. I’d paid for the reservation online through the hotel’s website four weeks ahead, but they said I still owed the full room cost. I showed the receipt, bank charge, and order confirmation at check-in and check-out. Kishan said they wouldn’t charge me again because the balance was wrong, but made me swipe my card at checkout anyway. They charged the full amount again. Kishan couldn’t refund it and had to call a manager, who wouldn’t be able to handle it until the next day. There wasn’t a manager’s name on the plaque, and I never heard from “management” Megan, Jessica, or Victor. The charge was eventually removed, but all the lies and disregard for my experience were frustrating. This was my first booking with Hilton or Hampton. I signed up for Hilton Honors, but I don’t trust them now and wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The whole experience put me off staying at another Hilton or Hampton.

We checked in late with the kids, and it went smoothly. The staff were great. The hotel is conveniently tucked just off the road, though some better signage on the main road would help. Thanks for a nice stay, we’ll be back.

The toilet wouldn’t flush when we got to our room for a baseball tournament. I went to the front desk expecting maintenance to come take a look, but they handed me a plunger and told me to fix it myself. Nobody apologized, offered to send someone, or suggested another room. That was dismissive and shocking, especially at a Hampton Inn where working plumbing should be basic. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve had, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Megan made sure we got the room we needed, and all the staff were amazingly friendly. Breakfast had lots to choose from and tasted good: juices, coffee, oatmeal, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and more. We’ll stay again!
