Hilton Garden Inn Orange Beach Beachfront

We’re leaving a day early, and this may be our last stay at a Hilton. The room was a handicap room, but water from the shower spread across the bathroom and all the way to the entrance. I nearly slipped. There was no shampoo or shower gel, just soap. At around 4 a.m., a dog yapped and cried for at least 20 minutes. The room phone didn’t work, so I had to call on my own phone. Jordan said there was no manager or supervisor on duty. We weren’t happy when we first entered, but it was late, so we decided to stay the first night. The entrance looked nice, but inside the room the curtains were hanging oddly and there was a worn hanger on the interior door. We went out the previous night and couldn’t find a do not disturb sign. Staff said they were out. We left the TV on so nobody would come in, but when we returned, the TV was on and a sign was sitting in the corner. I guess they don’t respect that and enter rooms without permission. I don’t understand why pets and their owners are kept on a separate floor. Too bad some Hilton hotels are starting to look like cheap motels. Shameful.

This room felt run down and like a one star stay. There was no warmth, style, or welcoming touch, and no pictures or notepad. The furniture was old, with some pieces damaged. Really disappointing and unacceptable. I’d have left if I hadn’t prepaid. What’s going on, Hilton?

The beach access is a huge reason to choose this hotel, and it was excellent. Most rooms have a balcony with at least a little Gulf view. Ours had more of a view than I expected, which was lovely. The pool area was a lot of fun, with the strongest lazy river I’ve ever tried and game frames for playing. There’s also a nice covered bar beside the pool, plus a good sand cleaning station on the walkway from the pool to the Gulf. The room and common spaces were very clean. Staff throughout the hotel, from the desk and bar to the pool team and housekeeping, were super helpful, friendly, and professional. Breakfast costs extra unless you prepay. It’s a standard buffet for one price, with made-to-order choices available at other prices. I found the on-site laundry clean and handy, and the self-checkout store was useful too. The elevators were faster than I expected. It’s pet friendly, apparently, since lots of guests had dogs. Breakfast aside, it was a great stay and I’d recommend it.

We stopped in for drinks and something to eat, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Dee greeted us with a smile and was enthusiastic, and the service was great. Fernando brought out food that was hot and nicely presented. The public bathrooms by the pool were clean and smelled fresh. Other guests were stopping in for food and drinks too.
