Phoenix on the Bay 1228

We’ve stayed here many times before, but we won’t be back. I saw a staff member yell at an older man riding a bike, causing him to fall. She didn’t check on him, snickered, and walked away. I also experienced rude behavior and saw it from others at the front desk. This used to be a great place with friendly staff and management, but the service now felt like Motel 6 despite paying $3,000 for a week. That may not be much money, but it wasn’t the service we expected. I’d tell people to spend their time and money somewhere nicer with courteous staff. I hope other guests don’t have to witness elder abuse by Phoenix on the Bay staff and management.

We were on the 3rd floor, and parking was right by our place, almost at the door. Check in and out were fast, and access was super easy. It’s a beautiful facility and great for kids because of the pools, without being overrun with children. The ocean was crazy during our stay, so it worked out perfectly.

Update 8/16/2025: We spent another week there and the staff did a FANTASTIC job handling the inevitable weather delays. It was clear they only closed the pools and lazy river when needed, then reopened them as soon as they could. Our family really appreciated the effort, and I’m changing my rating to 5 stars. Thank you, POB staff! In 2024, we had fun there and the lazy river was a destination for us, but the pool and lazy river closure policy was ridiculous. We could be left waiting hours if lightning or thunder was anywhere nearby. Sitting on the balcony for hours under bright, sunny skies was frustrating. The photos showed what the weather looked like during two hours of waiting.

The rooms were really spacious, and the pools were large and clean. The lazy river was cool too. Good condo!
