Phoenix VIII by Brett Robins Vacations

We like staying in the Phoenix buildings, and this was our second year in 81206, but the unit needs a major facelift. We came for a month and there was nowhere to keep dry goods in the kitchen, unlike last year, because a lot of wine and martini glasses had been added. The dishwasher’s bottom rack is broken, the sofa and loveseat need cleaning, and the front door has to be slammed to stay shut. Two physical keys weren’t enough during the week we had guests; a code lock would make more sense. The guest bathroom is tiny, and the dining table takes up too much space. We knew the balcony view east was completely blocked and accepted that, but combined with the unit’s further deterioration, it’s unacceptable. The fridge has the wrong ice tray, so ice spills everywhere. The kitchen cabinets, faucet, and flooring need replacing too. We hoped for updates this year, but none had been done. The TV channels and apps are disappointing. We arranged to cast Xfinity, but couldn’t because the TV uses the building Wi-Fi instead of the unit’s Wi-Fi. We spent more time looking for next year’s place and found a much nicer unit for just a few dollars more.

The condo had loads of space, was clean, and the decor inside was lovely. That view was absolutely gorgeous. The woman at the front desk was cheerful, and both arrival and departure were easy. I hated having to leave.

We had a clean, comfortable condo with a good beach view and a long balcony where you could sunbathe without leaving. The beach was great, the staff were really nice, and the gym was adequate. From the condo you couldn’t see sunrise or sunset. And if the neighbors upstairs are inconsiderate, the extra balcony length means you might wake up to their cigarette butts, gum, or other things they tossed down overnight, right when you’re getting coffee.

We had a great time and enjoyed our stay. With school starting, it wasn’t too crowded, and the elevators were quick.
