Spanish Key 504 Next to Flora-bama Sleeps 9

The location is spectacular, the common areas are well maintained with excellent furniture, and the reserved covered parking is a great perk. We just finished a week at Spanish Key #104 and enjoyed our stay, so this is meant as useful information for whoever comes next. There are quite a few problems in the unit. The washer thuds, and the dryer squeaks constantly while running. The dishwasher's top rack is broken, and the return air grill rattles whenever the unit is on, although the unit itself works awesomely. The refrigerator door above it was cracked and hanging off its hinge, so maintenance removed it during our stay without telling us first. We weren't there, and our wallets, jewelry, and other personal things were left on the counter. The bar top in front of the fridge has delaminated and can be pushed down before popping back up. The front king bedroom door is undeveloped and won't stay open, while the door in the two-bed room won't latch. The two beds in that room are full size, not queen, so two adults would have a hard time sharing unless they were very thin. The queen headboards are wider than the mattresses, and the dresser hadn't been dusted in weeks. The TV remote in that room can change channels, but it won't turn the TV on or adjust the volume. The shower heads are cheap plastic ones that barely put out any water. And there's no handle on the balcony's sliding door from the outside, so you have to get your fingers into the frame to open it.

We had a good vacation overall and stayed at this resort for almost a week during a family summer trip. It was close to all the main spots around Orange Beach, but several things disappointed us. The condo was very outdated and cheap. For six people, we got only three rolls of toilet paper, no trash bags, one dish towel, and no soap for the three bathrooms or kitchen. The outdoor pool was closed for two of our five days, and there was hardly ever security around or an employee in the lobby to help with problems. With the cost and other beach options available, we'd book somewhere else if we return.

Spanish Key looked gorgeous outside, and the rooms were even more impressive. Our huge three-bedroom had a big balcony with amazing ocean views. I felt like royalty there and wanted to stay forever. It was pricey, but worth it, and we really enjoyed ourselves. My only complaint is that the stay was too short, lol.

We were guests of someone who rented here, and this was the worst condo stay I've had in 20 years of visiting different places. None of the amenities worked, and there was no staff at the condos. My spouse has an ESA, and although we'd submitted the documents and had everything cleared months ahead, we still got complaints about bringing the dog. There were ants in our condo when we arrived, and on three separate days we saw rats by the pool. At 2 AM, someone pulled the fire alarm and we had to evacuate the building. There was no security at all. We expected a peaceful vacation, but the experience was awful. Absolutely do not stay at this resort.
