SpringHill Suites Orange Beach at The Wharf

The convenient spot near The Wharf was one of the few things we liked about SpringHill Suites at The Wharf, but the stay felt overpriced and underwhelming, especially during peak season. We'd had better experiences at other Marriott properties. I had booked a balcony room for the marina view, but we were given a standard room without one, and the front desk just shrugged without apologizing or offering an upgrade. The suite layout was annoying for a family: the toilet was in one small room, while the shower and a short sink were in another, so basic things meant walking between rooms. There was also sand all over the floors. The in-room coffee was weak, and there was no lobby coffee available in the evenings or late at night. Though the modern design looks sleek in photos, it felt cold in person, and light came through the doors at night, leaving little privacy. The older man at the front counter was rude and very impolite, and the elevators were slow and crowded. Housekeeping staff repeatedly pushed on with huge laundry carts, taking up room and making guests seem like an afterthought. Every morning we could hear a woman snapping and yelling at people on the radios. We guessed she was the lead housekeeper, and we rode the elevator with her twice while she complained that two housekeepers had "zero clues" about making beds. Parking was a mess all the time. When hotel employees weren't using the spots, people from the marina filled what was left, including handicap spaces without placards or disabled license plates. If we'd wanted to park in a field or in front of the event office, we could've stayed there.
