Super 8 by Wyndham, Orangeburg

Cigarettes and urine were the first things I smelled. At check-in, I was told the hotel would raise my rate because I had a third adult, even though I’d booked online. The clerk said they couldn’t cancel it for me since it was an online booking, but apparently could change the rate I’d already paid. That was rude, and the extra charges hadn’t been disclosed. I believe undisclosed charges are illegal.

Reposting: the bathroom was filthy, with what looked like feces or blood, plus urine and hair on the toilet seat and tub. There was hair and staining on the pillowcases too. My dog was cleaner than the room, yet I was charged the $20 pet fee, along with almost $40 more than the rooms were listed for. This place is gross. I did raise the problem with the front desk the next morning, and was told I should have said something the night before. I’d arrived just before midnight after driving all day. At check-in, nobody was at the desk, so I had to ring the bell twice and wait outside the locked lobby for someone to come. After that, I didn’t expect much help getting a cleaner room. As for the previous reply, I did say something and was basically ignored. So try talking to them yourself.

The bed was comfortable, the room was clean, and I saw no signs of insects. We had a pleasant overnight stop on our way south, and bringing our dog caused no problems.

The shower water was HOT, and breakfast the next morning was better than I expected. Our first-floor room was clean, though it smelled like curry and I never got the TV working. For what we paid, it was still a great value, and I’d stay here again.
