Enchanted Gardens

We loved having room to wander through the gardens, and our toddler was taken with all the friendly animals, from the donkey and goat to the dog, ducks, rabbits, cat, and guinea pigs. Sherri was very kind throughout our stay. The cozy accommodation was clean and nicely furnished, and the WiFi was quick and steady. There’s no TV, but we were happy to spend our vacation doing other things. I’d wondered whether the frogs or rain might keep us awake, but we slept without any trouble. It was just the countryside escape we wanted, surrounded by nature and animals. If we return to the Big Island, I’d book here again without hesitation. It really does feel enchanted.

At night, a chorus of frogs was our soundtrack instead of a white noise machine. The owner welcomed us warmly, along with her affectionate donkey, Mocha Latte. She’s an artist, and her eclectic touches are everywhere on this magical property, which clearly has had a lot of care put into it. We came hoping for a jungle experience, and the spectacular plants and trees delivered. There were thoughtful details throughout, easy check-in and checkout, and quick communication. She even went out of her way to provide breakfast for our special dietary needs.

There are three acres to wander around, including a macadamia nut orchard at the back of the property. I was happy here, and would stay again. It’s a relaxing spot in the rainforest for anyone who loves nature and animals, with a comfortable bed and a nice hot shower. There’s no TV, though we watched shows and movies on our phones instead. The WiFi worked well.

The location worked well for getting to good food and the warm ponds. It’s also about 40 minutes from Volcano National Park, and a convenient spot for seeing the lava flow into the ocean. A really relaxing, wonderful stay.
