Sleep Inn & Suites Oregon - Toledo

The rooms are big, the place is super clean, and everyone is nice. Duval, though, is the superstar. Always smiling and happy, and he goes out of his way to help with anything. He’s amazing every time. We chose this place after checking it out first, largely because of him, and we haven’t been disappointed. He’s a blessing and makes an already good stay so much better.

The staff were the best part of our stay: professional, helpful, and very accommodating. They even happily replaced all our bed linen when we found the room wasn’t properly cleaned and there was no housekeeping staff on duty that day. I’m a repeat guest and have stayed at hundreds of Choice Hotels, but it’s been a few years since our last visit here, and I’m really disappointed by how downhill it’s gone. There was a jello shot cup on the windowsill and four in the fridge, debris behind the nightstand, and a slimy, soapy grip bar in the shower. The lampshades were dirty and crooked. One pillow had a small mascara mark; the comforter had blue jello drops and another stain. The beds were sloppily made, and a red blotch on the back of the door looked like blood, though it turned out to be red jello. We were a bit creeped out. The room also needed maintenance. The beds were uncomfortable, walls were scuffed, bathroom tile was cracked, and wallpaper was lifting in places. The shower door wouldn’t close properly, and the phone didn’t work at all and was missing buttons. Breakfast was anemic. There were two counters, as Choice Hotel standards require, but the smaller one had only two cereals and some apples. No bagels, pastries, or muffins, just bread slices for toast. The hot food was scrambled eggs, cheap skinless sausage links, biscuits and gravy, and waffles, of course. The fridge was empty at first, with no yogurt, boiled eggs, or cheese. Later, butter, yogurt, and cream cheese (?) showed up. The indoor pool was closed for renovation or maintenance and had already been closed for “several weeks.” It was expected to reopen in several more weeks. Sadly, we won’t stay here again, and I can’t recommend the hotel anymore.

I’ve stayed at this Sleep Inn in Oregon, Ohio twice, once in November and once in December, within the last month. Both third-floor rooms were great: clean, quiet, and comfortable, with a good bed and TV. The hotel is reasonably priced and well located, and it’s a quiet, comfortable place. I’ll keep booking here.

The owner wasn’t friendly, and the bathroom by the pool was absolutely disgusting: no toilet paper, paper towels, or soap. When we left, he kept $50 from our deposit, saying they had to “deep” clean. That sounded like the regular vacuuming and washing that should happen anyway, unless they don’t clean after every guest. It wasn’t kid friendly either. We’ll never come back, and I would not recommend it.
