Cambria Hotel Orlando Universal Blvd

For a Universal trip, this hotel worked well: it was clean, convenient, reasonably priced, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It felt newly renovated and modern, and was a comfortable place to rest after the parks. I’d consider staying here again. The first night, our neighbors next door yelled and made noise until about 5 a.m. I wish I’d called the front desk earlier so I could’ve slept more, but I’d never dealt with that at a hotel before. When I did call, staff responded right away and handled it professionally. I don’t blame the hotel for the neighbors; the quick response was exactly what I’d hope for, though it may mean the walls aren’t the thickest. There was also a strong, strange smell in the fourth-floor hallway near the elevator every time we passed through. The hallway doors were closed the following day, so I’m pretty sure management knew about it and may have been trying to contain it. Hopefully they’re working on it. I’m not much of a resort traveler, and this place checked the boxes for a park-focused stay.

We were in town for a volleyball tournament at the convention center and would definitely stay at Cambria again. It’s in a great spot for food, shops, and the theme parks, and the beds were VERY comfy. The lobby coffee kiosk was a lifesaver for early departures to play. Natalia looked after everyone and made delicious drinks. Thank you, Natalia!

The location was perfect, but the hotel wasn’t quiet and I wouldn’t stay again. My room was clean and comfortable, the bed was great, and the shower had good pressure with odor-free water. There was nowhere in the shower to put my own products, though, and the hotel toiletries seemed watered down. The air conditioner never worked right. The temperature changed by itself whenever I came back, and the room had a damp, unpleasant smell that made it feel humid. Parking was crowded. There were other nearby lots, but no proper sidewalk or safe way to walk back with luggage unless you parked right by the entrance. The front desk experience varied. Some staff seemed irritated, like guests were a bother, but one gentleman was very attentive and the woman who helped me check out was genuinely kind. I also found the common areas uncomfortable because the halls smelled strongly of curry. Anyone who doesn’t like that scent, or the food, should keep it in mind.

I should’ve paid attention to the reviews and avoided this hotel. The night before our trip, my fiancé checked the reservation for the address and saw it had been canceled. Neither of us had canceled it. When I called, an employee said there was an issue with the card, but I never got any notice of a charge or attempted charge, even though my bank alerts me about everything. We also never got an email saying the reservation was canceled or that there was a card problem. We could’ve driven six hours only to be blindsided. The employee wasn’t apologetic and wouldn’t offer the room at our original price, saying we’d have to pay the higher rate. Right after that, I checked Booking.com and found a rate cheaper than what we originally booked. SCAM! I’ll never waste my time here again. We stayed at the Wyndham garden off of international instead. The rooms were nice, clean, and modern. That’s where it’s really at!
