Coco Key Hotel & Water Park Resort

The water park and slides connect right to the hotel, so it's a good option for families with young kids. We had five adults, though, and my son slept on a pullout couch that looked like it was from the '80s. He's young, so he can recover. The hotel is walkable to lots of restaurants and shops, but the theme parks may be a bit far. Rooms are dated, though they're trying to update them: the shower looks completely new and the flooring is new. We had only one working elevator in our building.

Dario at the bar made a great strawberry daiquiri and gave top-notch service. He was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious too. My granddaughter especially loved the breakfast buffet, arcade, and water park. The water was still ice cold, Florida weather being Florida weather, but she found a happy spot in the heated section under the overhang and had a great time. The whole resort was clean and well kept, especially for an older property. You can see the staff put effort into maintaining it. Everyone we met was warm, helpful, and welcoming, which made traveling with family easier. The location is convenient for getting around Orlando and close to everything. I'd recommend it for families, with lots to do on site and good value. We made some fun memories here.

Our whole volleyball team had a lot of fun here. Julissa was especially friendly and helped us get what we needed, including watching our bags while we waited. We enjoyed the water park and got a workout in at the gym too. I'd recommend it, especially for families.

We were charged a mandatory $150 resort fee at check-in, or $50 per night, after arriving late from our trip. At that hour there was nowhere else to go, so we had to pay. For that extra charge, the room should have been in much better shape. The furniture had visible rust and the place felt worn and neglected, more like an aging motel room with maintenance problems than a resort. On the first day, the bathtub was dirty, the blinds wouldn't close so there was no privacy, and we could hear every noise from neighboring rooms. Almost none of the outlets were usable. The only working one was behind the dusty TV. It's very frustrating to start a trip this way. If they charge $50 extra each night on top of the advertised rate, the experience should justify it, and it didn't. My advice to other travelers is to stay elsewhere; there are better places nearby. Don't be fooled by the photos, which look enhanced in Photoshop. Update, 03/04: After the response, I contacted the front desk and gave them my reservation details a week ago. I've still heard nothing from the team.
