Hyatt Place Orlando/Lake Buena Vista

The manager apologized and said one night would be refunded, but after weeks of calls and emails, the refund still never came. I even received an amended folio showing it had been issued. Instead, my card records showed an incorrect charge later in December, on a date when I wasn't even in the country. I waited several weeks to write this because I expected a better resolution. I stayed over Thanksgiving weekend 2025. The location was convenient for Disney, and the gentleman working Saturday and Sunday morning was courteous. But a faulty key system locked me out overnight, leaving me without access to my belongings or medication. I was told the manager and maintenance wouldn't be there until around 7:00 a.m., and someone would escort me back then. Nobody came. I had to return to the desk and explain it again because the staff member on duty didn't know what had happened. I generally value Hyatt, but the lack of accountability, communication, and resolution here was extremely frustrating. I won't return and can't recommend this property.

The location near Disney works well for families, and the room layouts, especially the bunk bed options, have potential. But basic upkeep and operations need a lot of work before I'd consider another stay. Trash cans inside and outside were overflowing, and our room lacked hand soap, lotion, and other usual toiletries. Breakfast was unusable: there were no napkins, plates, forks, or coffee, and the French toast bites were still frozen. The elevator was broken, too. Several guests on our floor had key cards stop working, so staff manually opened doors and suggested not letting them close all the way. That isn't a safe or acceptable fix for a hotel. Go look at the Embassy Suites or something.

After a long day at Disney, we came back exhausted and found our keys still wouldn't work. The desk said the system was down again and told us to wait outside our room for help. We sat there for over 20 minutes wanting nothing but sleep, and nobody showed up. The key system was already down when we arrived, so an employee had to walk us to the room and open it manually. I understood at first, but then found hair in the coffee machine. I called for a replacement and nothing came for 30 minutes. When I followed up, the agent asked, “Oh, you want it right now?” even though it was late. The replacement was worse, with a broken lid and even more dirt. We only wanted hot water, yet getting it became a struggle. I know the price reflects the service level to some extent, but this was unacceptable, worse than a motel, and nearly ruined our trip. Worst place I've stayed so far. Hyatt usually meets our expectations, but this hotel fell far short.

The breakfast buffet was far more than we expected from a complimentary meal. It had eggs, home fries, sausage, oatmeal, cereals, yogurt, and plenty more. We were also impressed by how spotless the rooms were, with comfortable beds, a good temperature, and a great view. The two connecting rooms for our family were on the 6th floor, and the hotel was close to everything. A very nice young woman checked us in Saturday evening and took care to make sure all the details were right. Johny, whom we met Sunday morning at checkout, also made sure we were happy with the stay. Johnny's a rock star. I'd highly recommend this Hyatt Place for its reasonable location, and we'll stay here whenever we visit Orlando. Awesome experience.
