Oasis Lakes at The Fountains, Orlando, USA

I was worried after reading the reviews, but we made the ten-hour drive and stayed Thursday through Sunday. We had an amazing time. The rooms were clean and had what we needed for four days and three nights, and check-in took less than 20 minutes. It was easy, and every staff member greeted us with a smile. Our pool day was great too. We used the huge pool in the middle of the resort, and my toddler loved the kids’ area. One water sprayer wasn’t working and that area could use a little upgrading, but my son didn’t mind and still had lots of fun. The pools were clean, and I didn’t feel gross swimming. My only complaint was that the shower water had a strange smell. Maybe that’s normal for Florida water, but it was my first visit from South Carolina.

Watching a rocket launch from our balcony was a pretty special bonus 🚀. The Fountains Resort Orlando is also in a handy spot on International Drive, near attractions, shops, and plenty of places to eat. Our apartment was roomy and well equipped, and the grounds and facilities were clean and nicely kept. The pools were a hit with my kids. A vacuum in the apartment would’ve helped us keep things tidy during a longer stay, but we had a really pleasant time there.

The check-in was a mess. We were sent around the facility to the wrong building, and although we’d been told we could skip the timeshare presentation because we’d attended one recently, we still had to sit through it. The sales pitch was high pressure, and they guilt-tripped us when we didn’t buy. The rooms had plenty of space but felt dated. There’s a lot to do on site, including restaurants, a bar, pools, and activities, and the location is close to food, theme parks, and other attractions.

Everything from the staff to the amenities was pretty great. I just wish they’d honored the late checkout they approved. We asked to stay until 11 instead of 10, but housekeeping was banging on our door at 9:15. Aside from that, a great experience.
