Westgate Palace Resort

The washer and dryer tower needs attention. It’s very old, the washer no longer cleans properly, and there was a lot of lint inside the dryer. They should replace the machines or improve the cleaning and maintenance. The volleyball court could also use a safety net like the basketball court has, since balls can bounce into the lake beside it and create a danger for children. Otherwise, we were comfortable. The hotel is just 8 minutes from the Universal parks, the beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are spacious. Front desk staff were friendly and had a great attitude. When we needed cleaning supplies, help was prompt and very good.

We planned to spend our last day relaxing at the property, but high winds closed the pool area, and we weren’t even allowed to walk through it. The shuttle only runs to Universal, and it has to be booked the day before. Although the location is walkable, getting around inside the property was frustrating. The gate we often used had no key access, so we had to go all the way around to the car entrance. After a long day at the theme parks, a family member who was in pain waited at the gate while we walked around to let him in. Security chased us down and said that wasn’t allowed. I don’t understand why that gate doesn’t have secure key access. Housekeeping also came at 9:10 while we were packing, even though checkout is listed as 10:00 a.m. They repeatedly asked when we’d be leaving and seemed annoyed when we said 10. There’s no daily housekeeping. The room was reasonably clean but the furniture was dated. The kitchen and living room layout felt awkward, and the bathroom off the main bedroom was poorly designed. You have to step over the toilet to get to the shower. Check-in was fine, and we appreciated being able to leave our bags at checkout. I regretted booking here. The staff seemed strict about some rules but disorganized about others, and it often felt like the inconvenience was pushed onto the guest. This didn’t meet what I’d expect from a resort. If you get a good price and just need a two-bedroom place to sleep, it may work. For a real resort stay or a relaxing vacation, it didn’t feel like one.

I wasn’t happy with the TV in our first room, but Iara Y. quickly took care of it and let us move to another room without hesitation. That little hiccup was sorted out, and my experience was wonderful. Thanks, Iara 😊

The room was clean, and the front desk staff were kind and hospitable. Housekeeping, though, needs work. We had the do not disturb sign on the door, but at 8:30 someone opened it while my wife was lying in bed. At 10:15 another housekeeper knocked. I answered and said we’d be out in 10 minutes. She just stared at me, looking put out, for an awkward minute before I finally closed the door.
