Quality Inn Ormond Beach – Daytona

A quiet night in a cozy room, with service that felt exceptional and comfort that made it easy to forget I was away from home. One of my best hotel stays ever, and a truly memorable experience.

The location worked really well for me. Everything I needed was about five minutes away, and it was the cheapest option around, at about $50 a night. The bed was comfortable, but squeaked whenever I moved. The broken bathroom door, refrigerator rubbing against the dresser, and slight moldy smell made it feel poorly maintained. It was a fair deal for the price, and if saving money is the priority, it may be worth it. This was a three-star kind of stay, with little problems that added up. I don’t see myself coming back. Decent for a budget traveler, but don’t expect much beyond the basics.

The rooms are nice, especially for a low rate of less than $80, and they’ve been newly remodeled. The only issue is that I don’t think anyone cleaned the brand-new floors after the remodel, so they need a proper cleaning.

There was a musty, moldy smell in the lobby, and it got worse in the room. The security latch was broken, so I told the front desk I was concerned about safety. The staff member brushed it off and said the deadbolt would stop unauthorized entry, but didn’t demonstrate that his master key card could open a locked room, which it certainly could. He confusingly offered to remove the remaining piece of the latch, saying guests had caused problems with the latches. That defeats their purpose. The room was appallingly dirty. I wouldn’t walk barefoot on the floor, and the area under the sink clearly hadn’t been vacuumed or mopped. The recent remodel was poorly done, with insulation sticking out from the bathroom door where it had been cut hastily. The walls were paper thin, so we could hear neighbors’ TVs and other noise. I was misled by the reviews, especially the ones mentioning a recent remodel. Many five-star reviews seem to be written by staff, with edits managed to keep positive feedback at the top. At least one was literally the name of the person who checked us in. It also seems they’re leaving fake reviews, including one from a manager who checked us in. I’d mention the name, but it seems reviews don’t show up if I do. No real guest would leave a review like that for this place. This place isn’t safe or clean, and they seem to go to great lengths to mislead potential guests. I plan to share photos that are saved on my phone. I typed this on a computer for clarity, and hope it helps other travelers avoid the same ordeal.
