El Conquistador Tucson, A Hilton Resort

Robert was especially kind and went out of his way to make our stay better. The whole staff helping with our conference was top notch, and housekeeping was extremely accommodating. My family had a great stay at El Conquistador Hotel. The property is beautiful, the amenities are excellent, and everything felt welcoming and well cared for. I’d gladly return to Tucson and recommend it to visitors.

The mountains make a great setting, and there’s plenty of room to enjoy nature. One morning a desert pig was just a couple of feet from the door, which was charming, and I also spotted a bobcat on the trail. The resort has the amenities you’d want, and the whole experience was amazing. I’d visited for a day years ago and was glad to come back and explore properly. You could easily spend a couple of good days in the area. Angelika at the gift shop was great to talk with and gave me local recommendations. Everyone at the property helped make things smooth. Hope to return in a couple of years.

The setting and views are magnificent, and it’s a beautiful property. Getting around can be a pain, though: there’s not enough parking, so it often means an uphill walk. The buildings are spread out, rooms all look alike and can be hard to find, especially at night when you’re left to locate yours without anyone offering a golf-cart escort. It can be a long walk. I stayed three days in a suite and housekeeping never came, despite my asking three times. The front desk blamed us for having the privacy tag up for an hour on the first afternoon, then said they would “try” to find someone. She didn’t want to hear that it had already been days. Maybe she hears this a lot, judging from the other reviews. The carpet was filthy, the hanging light fixture was damaged and crooked, the decor dated, and one of the two TVs worked poorly.

Lorenza at the front desk was the best Hilton front desk associate we’ve encountered in our 45-plus business travel days a year. Hilton is lucky to have her. The staff who helped us at the conference were also top notch, kept things clean, and made everything run smoothly. Housekeeping was extremely accommodating. There are lots of good restaurants a short drive away. It was a great business trip.
