Quality Inn Othello

The photos on Google give the wrong impression. My room was disgustingly unkempt and smelled of cigarettes, and for a place in this condition, $100+ a night is too much. The lights by the bed flickered when I walked across the floor. There were bad stains on the ceiling, curtains, and floor, cracked bathroom tiles, peeling Sheetrock in a bedroom corner, and a nasty bathroom ceiling. A beer bottle was in the hallway both the day I arrived and the day I checked out. I couldn't add the video to the review, but I included pictures as receipts. Stay in Moses Lake and drive to Othello.

The non-smoking room still smelled of cigarette smoke. When we opened the window, we saw the screen had been crushed out onto the ground, and the shower shampoo didn't work. The photos are deceptive. As a former Peace Corps volunteer from West Africa, I might have found this place luxurious there, but in the United States, all you can say is that it's the only hotel in Othello. I'll never stay here again.

The staff were incredibly friendly, which completely spoiled the early 90s school cafeteria lunch lady vibe I was hoping for. Bugger. The place itself is a nostalgic time capsule, right down to the smell, and felt like stepping back into the early 90s. A TV with rabbit ears, a VHS player with classics like “AC/DC: Live at Donington” or “The Might Ducks”, ashtrays, and cheap cigarette odors would have completed the effect. The hall chandelier was a tack… errrrr, I mean CLASSY touch! I'm glad the outdoor pool hasn't been in service for over four years. If it had been, I would have had to give the place another star, and that would've been disappointing. :) It really was a trip down memory lane for me.

The breakfast was wonderful, and the service was friendly. Our room was a bit dated but clean. The shower in room 219 could use a new shower head because it sprayed in every direction, and the mini fridge sounded like ocean waves when it switched on. Those small things didn't affect the quality of our stay, though. Otherwise, we had a great stay.
