The Otter Supper Club & Lodge

The room was huge, with a really comfortable bed, and it stayed pretty quiet despite being close to the highway and next to a bar. There’s a nice patch of yard out back for pets. My only issue was finding coffee: I had to look for it the first morning, it was out by 8 on the second, and there wasn’t any on my last morning, so I walked to the gas station next door. The guy at the counter gave me a cup for free, which was a nice surprise. I had a very nice stay at the Otter Lodge and would come back.

We first tried the supper club a couple of times, then decided to stay here for a little off-season getaway. We booked a balcony room, and both the room and balcony were huge. I also liked the password locks, with the option to unlock the door through an app. We weren’t disappointed and would do it again.

The room was cheap, but finding trash pushed under one of the beds made me question how well it had been cleaned. Our dog kept trying to crawl underneath, so we checked. It was all paper, thankfully no food, but there was a lot of it. My husband went to the restaurant for help and was told, “we aren’t housekeeping,” then handed a broom and dustpan. We cleaned it ourselves. The room was okay for a night, though it could use some touching up and wasn’t quite what I pictured. This is a review of the motel, not the restaurant. We’d booked what I thought was a downstairs room for one night for me, my husband, and our dog, but the information we received showed it was upstairs. That was fine. The no-contact, keyless entry isn’t my preference, though choices nearby are very limited. If there had been another decent option close by and someone at a real front desk to talk to, we would have left and asked for a refund.

The supper club food and service were great, with no complaints there. The prices were higher, but that was expected. We stayed for the weekend and only figured out after arriving that we had to check ourselves in. It worked out once we understood, but we were unsure what to do at first. They should make self check-in clearer on the website and in the confirmation, and maybe put more information on the doors coming into the facility.
