The location was great. That’s the one good thing. The room felt dirty and smelled bad, with cobwebs in the wall and ceiling corners. The WiFi wouldn’t hold a proper connection, the beds were hard, and the chair had obvious stains. The door’s chain lock was broken, the bathroom needed paint, and there was hair and lint on the towels. In the morning, a dog in the next room woke us up barking.

The rooms were spotless, cozy, and thoughtfully laid out, with everything I could need and more. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the temperature was just right. This was my second year in a row at The Butler Inn, and somehow I enjoyed it even more than the first time. I feel so happy whenever I’m here. It’s one of my favorite places, and such a warm, welcoming, well-kept spot for a weekend getaway.

The shower had great pressure and the beds were really comfortable. The tub was a little worn and the bathroom slightly dated, but that was the only small drawback. My wife and I stayed several nights, and we were happy with the clean, perfectly usable rooms for the reasonable price. The proprietor of the Butler Inn is friendly, and there are complimentary drinks in the hotel office area. It’s right by Miami U and the heart of Oxford, so if you want to save money, this is a solid choice. Nothing fancy, but we enjoyed our stay.

The Butler Inn gave us a room and a place in their hearts for an extended stay. The staff were wonderful, the customer service was unmatched, and the rooms felt lavish and classy, more like the Five Seasons. Visiting Oxford, Ohio? I’d be the first to recommend this place. I’ve never had my expectations exceeded so thoroughly. Wow, just wow, what an outstanding motel experience.

The bed was extremely comfortable, and although the motel sits well back from the road, there was hardly any traffic noise. The parking lot was brightly lit, which helped me feel safe. As a student at Miami University with a 30-minute commute and an on-campus weekend job, I booked two nights so I wouldn’t have to drive back and forth all weekend around Halloween and the time change. I was traveling alone and appreciated the deadbolt and chain on the door. The hardwood floors meant I didn’t have to worry about dirty socks, and as an ambulatory wheelchair user, I could pop a wheelie into and out of the room and had plenty of space to use my chair inside. It was the first hotel I’d stayed at that provided makeup remover wipes. There’s no free breakfast, but I packed my own and ate in the room, which had a microwave and fridge. I couldn’t figure out the coffee maker, so I left it alone rather than risk messing it up. I’d packed caffeine tablets just in case. It wasn’t a Keurig like most hotels have, and guests might appreciate a clearer coffee setup. That’s a minor issue, though. For what I paid, I’ve usually gotten less and a worse room. I’ll consider staying here again when I need to spend the night in Oxford.
