Comfort Inn Oxford - University Area

My wife booked this for parents' weekend at the local university, but the reservation was made for the wrong date, so we had no room when we arrived. They also charged us a no-show fee. Choice Hotels investigated and emailed us to acknowledge that the reservation taker had made a mistake, but told us to contact the hotel for a credit card refund. We showed the email to the manager, who still refused to refund us and said they hadn't made a mistake. The customer service was absolutely horrible.

I had no choice about staying here, and it was awful. Breakfast was being recycled for the third day, and one morning the warmers weren't even on, so everything was cold. The milk was expired and the toast bread was stale. Service was terrible. It felt like the owners were doing the bare minimum, if that, and the hotel needs competent owners. The whole family runs it, but I only ever saw the kids.

There's plenty to do nearby, and the location is great. But every time our sheets were changed, they had stains, and there was black mold in the shower. I've been sick for about four weeks since staying there. I'd still go back because it's close to the college.

I won't book here again. They reserved my two rooms for the wrong dates and charged me more than $350 for a no-show. An investigation confirmed by email that it was their mistake, but they said their policy wouldn't allow a refund. All they offered was points, which are no use to me.
