The bed was comfortable, and the location was convenient, about 10 minutes from the National Harbor and 20 minutes from downtown DC. The rest of the stay was rough. The room was dirty, with water damage, unexplained stains, and used toilet paper still in the toilet. The insulation was poor too. Even with the thermostat set to 70°, cold air came through a gap in the door. At check-in, the front desk woman finished helping the person ahead of me, then went straight to her phone and ignored me until I spoke up. When I returned an hour later to pick up food I’d ordered, she was asleep and didn’t notice me or whether the food had been delivered. That felt very unprofessional and unsafe. You really do get what you pay for here.

The room was comfortable for the price, but if you expect fresh towels every day, be aware they weren’t replaced daily during our visit. The website also says the front desk is open around the clock, but we couldn’t reach anyone for more than two hours while our neighbors played loud music past 11 p.m. We kept trying to get help and got no response.

This was a complete mess. On February 3, I had a fully paid Expedia booking at the Red Roof in Oxon Hill, D.C., which I’d made to help a friend who had nowhere else to stay. I didn’t know about the deposit, so I asked the woman at the front desk. She flatly assured me I could cancel if I decided to. I tried following the steps, using the app and contacting Expedia, but was denied. When the staff changed, the next person, Dan, repeated the dishonesty. I left without a room, without a refund, and feeling completely disrespected. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone. The whole thing was blatant, unprofessional, and unacceptable.

For a budget place near National Harbor, you could do worse, but my family didn’t like it and I won’t return. The bedding, sheets, towels, and sink were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the extra tube of shower gel was appreciated. The travel tissues came in handy too. The pillows were a bit squishy but usable. There were lots of problems elsewhere. The TV and safe were broken, the outlets didn’t work, and the air conditioner was caked in years of dust, with cigarette burns and holes in its plastic. The furniture was worn, and there were stains on the walls and ceiling. The tub was stained, drained slowly, and stuff floated up from the drain. The shower control screw was loose, hot water took ages, and the shower gel seemed like watered-down hand soap, though there was an extra tube.
