Flamingo Inn

The pool wasn't very clean, though people were coming and going, and honestly guests are the ones making it dirty, not the employees. Everything else went nicely, from booking through checkout. I gave Flamingo Inn a chance despite the older reviews, and it was close to the beach, with great housekeeping and a really friendly front desk. The young man there was especially nice. My rooms were side by side for a weekend with my sons and grandkids. My family and I had a great stay, thank you Flamingo Inn.

The room smelled awful, like mold, and Febreze, small-space fresheners, and cat air fresheners didn't help. The pillows were much smaller than their cases, and the extra pillows I requested when booking weren't provided. There's no ice machine, and the pool is tiny. The fan was filthy, the bedside lamps looked like they might fall apart, and the air conditioner was so loud we couldn't hear the TV. We couldn't use captions because of a remote issue. The advertised free breakfast wasn't available. The lobby was locked, and I was told they were working on it. There were only two coffee pods, one decaf and one not even regular coffee, so with more than one coffee drinker, we were out of luck for both breakfast and coffee. The water tasted horrible, even in the coffee. The shower curtain wouldn't stay closed, so water soaked the floor, and the showers weren't hot. Parking on the 100 side is extremely steep and not good for anyone with mobility issues. I think paying $20-40 more would've been worth it. Online bookings are nonrefundable, so I wouldn't book that way.

For an adult vacation, this was a fine, average hotel, though nothing special compared with the others nearby. It was busy, and seemed popular with party-prone college students, so families with kids might want another spot. Still, it was affordable and within walking distance of everything we wanted to do.

The rooms are carpeted and some spots on ours were wet. It's pet friendly, with a $25 nightly pet fee, and the beach is very close, basically just down the road from the access. The rooms open to the outside like a motel.
