Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites South Padre Island by IHG

We had such a good stay and are already planning to come back this summer for longer. The room was spotless, the bed really comfortable, and the staff so friendly. Breakfast was hot with plenty of choices, and the beach was just a five-minute walk away.

The best things here were the pool, the hot tub, and being close to the beach. The hot tub was actually hot, unlike the shower water. Our room was alright, but the TV remote barely worked, the phone was dead, and there was hardly any hot water. My old tablet from five years ago, broken after my birthday, somehow works much better than this place. I’d barely recommend it unless you’re a masochist who likes broken things and cold showers.

The rooms and atmosphere look gorgeous and are very well maintained, but they did not respect our privacy. My husband was in the bathroom while I was changing when two hotel staff members let themselves into our room without knocking or calling first. We had asked for no cleaning, and this wasn’t the cleaning crew. That was completely inappropriate.

We appreciated being in a safe area, and it was easy to walk to the beach. Our room was clean and spacious, the A/C worked well, and the bed was comfortable. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast had a good selection, though chicken sausage would be a welcome choice for guests who don’t eat pork or beef. We also had trouble using the EV chargers. There are three, but some guests left their cars plugged in overnight and through the day, so others couldn’t get a turn. It would help if management kept an eye on them and notified guests when their vehicles were fully charged. A nice stay overall, with a few things that could be improved.
