Holiday Inn Express & Suites Corpus Christi - N Padre Island by IHG

The whole hotel smelled awful, like mold and mildew. We changed rooms and it was still bad. It was 1 a.m. and all of us were awake, struggling to breathe. The front desk said they couldn’t do anything about the smell and blamed the rain. It smelled like wet clothes left too long in the washer. I can’t believe a Holiday Inn would allow this. What an awful start to our family vacation, and I’m embarrassed I booked these rooms when we’re stuck here until Friday.

We got a helpful list of nearby restaurants and good tips about the area from Jesse when we arrived, which was especially useful since it was our first visit. He made sure we had what we needed and was always there with a friendly greeting whenever we came or went. Really welcoming and refreshing to see at the front desk.

The rooms were just okay, and the tub had a lot of hard water stains. Breakfast was also more limited than at other Holiday Inn Expresses I’ve stayed at. Still, the beach location is a big plus, and every staff member I dealt with was helpful and efficient. It’s not a perfect hotel, but I’m happy with the five stars.

We just checked out, and the staff were kind and courteous. The breakfast was good, though we spotted one roach in the cabinet with the bagels and toast. The room had four body towels, two hand towels, and a floor towel for three people, but no blanket, sheets, or pillow for the pullout sofa. The coffee pot wouldn’t stay closed, and the blinds didn’t shut, with no curtains to block the sun. A bike rack would also be useful so guests can leave their bikes ready to ride instead of loading and unloading them from the car each time. We usually stay at Home 2 Suites in Portland, but decided to try the beach this time. We won’t be booking this Holiday Inn Express again anytime soon.
