Ocean Inn South Padre Island

The front desk staff were polite, but the room felt like a jail cell. There was no working TV, Wi-Fi, microwave, or fridge. The mattresses were so uncomfortable that I woke up with bad back pain and couldn't sleep.

The room was cramped for what we paid, and the website photos gave a misleading impression of the hotel. The shower was dirty, with no shampoo samples or bar soap. Our entrance door wouldn't close properly, and half of the safety latch was missing, so we didn't have that extra protection overnight. I wouldn't recommend staying here. For the price, I'd pick a different hotel or motel.

There was no water, the rooms were nasty, and the workers were horrible. This place isn't worth it. I think it should be condemned or shut down.

The woman at the front office was nice, and I didn't see any roaches, but I was very disappointed and won't be back. We used to stay here when it was Motel 6 without these problems. Since it became Ocean Inn, it's gone downhill and needs major renovations and better management. Unless you urgently need somewhere to stay, I wouldn't recommend it. Our first room had a broken AC, which was a serious problem because I was with an elderly family member who overheats quickly. I asked to move within five minutes of checking in, and they gave us an upstairs room. They then said we might have to pay a $20 cleaning fee just for using the restroom in the first room, even though the AC problem wasn't our fault. That seemed very unfair. The second room was a little cooler, but not worth the $300 for two nights. The towels felt dirty and cheap, as if they'd been washed with poor-quality detergent. The beds were extremely hard, and the blankets were so thin they barely felt like blankets. Outside, the property looked neglected, with huge potholes by our parking spot and empty detergent boxes piled near the AC units, which looked like they were leaking. It was unprofessional and unsightly.
