Padre South Hotel On The Beach

Everything's close by, so it's a decent budget place if you just need somewhere to sleep. It has an older hotel feel, but that didn't bother us, and the staff treated us well. Veronica checked us in and was courteous and nice. My wife really liked the kitchenette, especially if you want to cook. The beach access is excellent, and the kitchenette and whirlpool were great. Staff were okay. Bring your own sugar. One thing that felt creepy: the owner sits in his wheelchair behind the glass, watching guests at the pool. I caught him staring at a young girl who wasn't a teen.

The walk to the beach wasn't my favorite, since the trail isn't a bridge. Still, the location is convenient for getting around on foot, and the 7th-floor view was amazing. The pool and hot tub were clean, too. I booked a room with a kitchen and was surprised to find it stocked with all the dishes. I'd brought my own.

The rooms are dated, and the beds felt a little small and uncomfortable. Still, for the price and service, it's hard to beat, and I'd definitely come back. The staff were super friendly, everything was clean, and the location was great. The pool and hot tub stayed open late, which was nice.

Felix, the maintenance worker, made my stay better. He was generous, compassionate, and quick to help whenever I needed something. He was often making his rounds on my floor and would always lend a hand. If you happen to see this, thank you so much, sir.
