South Padre Motel

Maybe you get what you pay for, but I wouldn’t stay here again. We found two roaches, the towels were old, stained, and worn, and the ice machine looked like it had been broken for ages. There was no drain stopper in the sink, just an open hole with a bad smell, and the shower was terrible. The rooms don’t look like the photos, and despite the website and breakfast pictures, there’s no breakfast.

The pool and location were nice, but the rest was pretty meh. There isn’t really breakfast, and while the room was somewhat clean, the carpet smelled awful and felt gross underfoot. I wiped it with a white towel and it came away yellow. Check-in isn’t until 4, so it feels like you’re paying for half a night unless you spend $25 for early check-in.

The room photos were completely false, and they don’t offer breakfast at all. At the front desk, they demanded a paper cash deposit before handing over the keys, instead of charging the card they already had on file. They wouldn’t even give a receipt for the cash. It felt incredibly suspicious and unprofessional. If I’d known before booking, I wouldn’t have booked.

The rooms were clean, but this place isn’t close to the beach. There’s no breakfast, just a microwave, and the staff weren’t very good. For another $20 or $30, you could stay at Holiday inn or a better hotel near the beach.
