The natural beach is gorgeous and fun to explore, though it isn’t safe for swimming. This visit, I got to see a sea turtle nest being excavated. There are several pools, or you can drive a short way to a beach without rocks. The pools are great and kid friendly, especially the clubhouse pool with its shaded seating. The grounds are always well kept, and it’s a nice area for walking, biking, or running, with a dedicated path along A1A and a dirt road and trail in the neighborhood across A1A, plus intercoastal access. We’ve stayed in different units at least nine times over the past 20 years. With kids, I recommend a ground floor unit for easy access and less worry about the balcony. The patios are huge, and although you see less of the ocean from there, you can still hear it and it’s an easy walk. The units are spacious and have ocean views. The complex sits between Washington Oaks and Marineland. Marineland beach is a mile north, and Fort Matanzas National Monument is less than five miles north, with a great inlet swimming area there. I saw a complaint about keys, but owners handle that differently, and many now have electronic locks.
