Comfort Suites Palm Desert I-10

We stayed for a weekend night and got a good night’s sleep. It’s an older property, but clean, and breakfast the next morning was nice. The bed was comfortable. There’s a pool and spa, though we didn’t use them. We’d come back.

Jennifer at the hotel was terrific. She answered the phone, which I appreciated so much after dreading a VOIP menu just to ask a couple of basic questions. The staff were welcoming and accommodating to me and my two small service dogs, and that means a lot. The hotel worked out great for an overnight stay. The smart TV in room 102 didn’t really work. Maybe the remote needed batteries, but I couldn’t select anything in the guide. Breakfast was nice, though a little underwhelming if you’re not into cereal, toast, yogurt, and that sort of thing.

We had a great stay, and the value and service really surprised me. The rooms are huge, with a fridge, microwave, mini sink, and kitchenette area, plus a safe for valuables. My five kids and I could all stay together without needing adjoining rooms. The pool and hot tub were open until 11 pm, and we were the only ones there at 8. It’s right off the freeway, so very convenient, yet quiet enough that you’d never guess the busy road is outside. The place is pet friendly and has free breakfast, which meant I didn’t have to rush out to feed the kids. I highly recommend it.

They canceled my reservation just before I arrived. Luckily, nobody had booked them, so I could still stay. Then I picked up two 20 oz Cokes and was told they cost $8. I said no thanks, that’s ridiculous, and the woman replied that those were hotel prices. I stay at Choice hotels around 20 days a month, more than I’m home, and I’ve never paid more than $3 for one. That happened once, in Hawaii.
