Alcazar Palm Springs

For a room meant for romantic getaways, it was surprising there was nowhere comfortable for two to sit. We had one hard desk chair and a small accent chair, plus pillows that were much too soft. The room itself was plain, all white with nothing decorative or interesting, though the property is in a great walkable location. The open shower made a mess, and the amenities were sparse. There was one tiny shower gel for two guests, and housekeeping didn’t replace it on the second day. No drinks in the room either, no water or coffee and tea maker. Lobby coffee wasn’t ready until 7:30 a.m. Breakfast was advertised with pastries, but it turned out to be a cake stand with a few pieces of one kind of coffee cake.

Right in the heart of downtown, with shops and restaurants an easy walk away. It has that old Palm Springs midcentury look, updated, with a clean pool and kitschy rooms. Unfortunately, I found lots of drain flies and a huge cockroach in my room.

Even with the temperature at 55 degrees, my husband and I enjoyed a swim because the pool was heated. The hot tub was lovely too, and we had yummy croissants for breakfast. From the balcony in front of our second-floor room, the view was amazing. Our room was charming, spacious, and clean, with a lush bed and a roomy bathroom. The staff were kind, welcoming, and helpful. Parking was easy, and we walked to supper both nights. Can’t wait to come back!

We came for my cousin’s birthday, and everyone was so accommodating. The place felt like a hidden gem, with a super cozy, spacious bed and a relaxing pool. The bicycles were a cute bonus. I’ll definitely tell family and friends to stay here when they visit Palm Springs.
