The Cole

We had a quiet stay, though I can see the motel-style insulation letting in noise when things get busier. The hotel has recently been renovated, and the furnishings inside are nothing like a typical motel. Very clean, comfy bed, and I’d come back next time.

The pool was a real highlight, with plenty of room to lounge and gorgeous sunset views. I seemed to have it to myself, and the adults-only policy made for a peaceful, relaxing stay. The Cole has a cute retro charm that feels fun and distinctive. Check-in is virtual, which made things quick and convenient. It’s also in a great spot, close to plenty of restaurants for an easy dinner, coffee, or shopping. The rooms are spacious, the details are stylish, and the whole atmosphere made it easy to unwind.

Freddie’s Kitchen was a pleasure, and Marco and chef Frederic were very personable. The Cole was neat and orderly, with a well-maintained look and a nostalgic flair. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely choose it again if we’re back in Palm Springs.

The staff were friendly in the brief interactions we had, and check-in and check-out were easy. The location is good, there’s free parking on site, and our room seemed clean. We were kept awake and woken up every night and morning by TVs and conversations through the very thin walls. We could even hear someone in another room loudly yawning and coughing. If you’re sensitive to sound, this probably isn’t a good fit. There was also construction right next to the hotel on weekdays, starting before 7am. That’s not The Cole’s fault, but it’s worth knowing if noise bothers you. I don’t know when it will be finished. The hot tub was very dirty. We ignored it, but it could be a dealbreaker for many people. The pool may technically be heated, but it was freezing at this time of year, so keep that in mind if booking before the weather gets hot.
