The Hideaway was just right for us at the end of October and start of November. It’s a short walk to restaurants, shops, and the Art Museum, and there’s free street parking right in front. Check-in was contactless, and the welcoming staff sent a detailed email with everything we needed to know before arriving. They also left complimentary water and snacks. The Club Room has a water fountain and sun tan lotion. We were in room 111, which had a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. The hotel is adults-only, small, private, and quiet. If you’re into architecture, its charming time-capsule feel is a treat. The record player adds to that sense of Palm Springs in the 50s and 60s.

The rooms are large and appropriately furnished, with sinks, retro refrigerators, and vintage phonographs. The bathrooms fit the historic mid-century modern style, so don’t expect modern updates. There are ten rooms at this gem, and everything centers around the pool, with loungers and vintage umbrellas around it. Shade is limited, though a few fruit trees offer some. We spent several days here for a quiet, relaxing break. The manicured lawn and native grasses make it a peaceful setting. It’s a keyless property, with check-in and staff communication handled by text. Management is at a sister property. That arrangement never caused us trouble and helped keep the atmosphere laid-back and quiet.

The record player in our room was a lovely touch and helped set a romantic mood. We also enjoyed the garden and pool, and the supplied beach towels made it easy to lounge on the sunbeds out front. The house was charming and comfortable, with the things we needed, including shampoo, conditioner, and both sweet and savory snacks. We stopped here in Palm Springs to break up our drive from Joshua Tree to Los Angeles. The location worked perfectly, with the main street and its lovely evening market just a short walk away. Free street parking was easy, too. We later found out the property was designed by a renowned architect, which added to its charm. It was a relaxing, fun stay, and we’d recommend it.

The air conditioning could have worked better, and there were quite a few bits floating in the pool that needed more frequent cleaning. Still, this was a fun, stylish stay, and I’d absolutely return. The hotel’s 50s look has a charming, nostalgic feel without seeming worn or dated, especially in the rooms. Check-in was quick, the cleaning staff were friendly, and shops and restaurants were a short walk away. Parking right outside the garden gate was convenient.

We loved this place and plan to come back, even though the price is a little high. Hideaway really does feel tucked away, though it’s only two blocks from Palm Springs’ main streets and within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The mid-century design is charming, and the garden is beautifully kept with plenty of places to sit. There’s also a lovely pool. Our medium-sized room was comfortable, with a small kitchen and refrigerator, a breakfast nook, and two cute armchairs. It was very, very quiet day and night. When we had a couple of questions, staff replied quickly by text.
