Creekside Inn

The grounds are lovely, and I liked having a big outdoor patio and being able to open the balcony door for fresh air. The front desk staff were friendly, there was a small fridge in the room, and the lobby had pastries and coffee for breakfast. Cecilia’s, an excellent Mexican restaurant, and a Starbucks are both about a 10-minute drive away. Stanford and Stanford Medical are close too, about 10 minutes by car. The room itself felt dated, with furniture and decor that seemed from the 1990s. The bed was lumpy and due for a new mattress, and the carpet looked old and dingy enough that I felt like wearing socks. I’d ask for a top floor room if noise from people walking above you bothers you. The $17.50 amenity fee came on top of the rate that HotelsTonight showed as including taxes and fees. It felt like a dishonest pricing tactic. A few breakfast pastries and coffee don't seem worth that, and the small pool at the very back of the property isn't easy to reach from many rooms. This is a decent hotel, not a resort, so I was disappointed to see a resort fee style charge, even if it was disclosed in small print I missed. The creek bed running through the property is usually lovely, but I’d be cautious about staying during heavy rain or an “atmospheric river” in the Bay Area winter. It looks like it could flood easily. Despite those problems, I’d stay again if the price were competitive with similar options available when booking.

The bed was comfortable, and the sheets and towels smelled fresh. The room was clean, and the housekeeping was exceptional. There were pastries, plus a few protein choices like boiled eggs and tiny quiches, and the pastries were great. Service was superb. It's a little pricey, but cleanliness matters most to me, and other reviews helped me choose it. My only choice in the area!

The room was large, with a lovely garden view, robes, and a really comfortable bed. On our first evening, the front desk called to check whether we were happy with the room, which was a welcome surprise. Breakfast was pretty mediocre, though. Still, it was a fantastic experience.

There was no elevator up to the second floor, but the room was spacious and clean, with plenty of parking. Everything felt fresh inside, and there was a table for dining. The staff were kind.
