Banana Peel Lodge

I left as soon as I saw the room and handed back my key, and of course there was no refund. The place was nasty, nothing like the photos, with nowhere to park, and I felt really unsafe. The staff were rude too. I don’t understand how they’re allowed to trick people like this. This place needs to be shut down!!!

The only pleasant part was the girl who checked us in. The photos online didn’t match what we found: the place was dirty, the room smelled, the bedding was dirty, and the TV was broken and had no remote. The pool was dirty too. We wouldn’t even put our things down. We left right away and found another room for the weekend.

DO NOT STAY HERE. I was there in July for one night before my flight, and the floor was so dirty I wore shoes in the shower. The AC worked great, but the unit is right above where you brush your teeth and wash your face. The TV was about the size of a 5x6 picture frame, mounted 10 feet up. The place smelled like a funeral home or a bowling alley from the 90’s. When I went to drop off my key card for check-in, the lobby doors were locked. The photos and description are very misleading.

The room was simple, clean, and just what we needed, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. There’s no comforter, but the sheets and pillows were clean, without stains or smells. The grounds have a pool, fire pit, and seating, and the beach is close by. Check-in was easy, and Jazz and the staff welcomed us with smiles and kindness. We’ll stay again. Before we arrived, a gentleman called on Friday to confirm our booking and ask our ETA because the lobby closes at 12 a.m. We were about 5 hours away and said we’d update them if anything changed. He checked in again a few hours later, but traffic meant we had to cancel Friday and keep Saturday instead. Even with short notice, he said we’d only be charged for one night. We booked another hotel for Friday, which was perfectly fine, and checked in at the Banana Peel just before 4 p.m. Saturday. Check-out the next morning was just as easy. They held a $100 deposit on my card and released it that same day, in case others want to know.
