Calypso 2004 West Tower II - Three Bedroom Condo

The room next to the trash chute on the 15th floor is one I won't be going back to. For what we paid, a beach house would have been a better choice, whether you call this place a condo, hotel, or just a room. I can't recommend staying here at this price, and I wouldn't choose it again. There were several cleaning and maintenance problems in the unit. Rusty-orange spots marked the flooring, the sink fixtures looked dirty and unpolished, and the bathtub walls needed a more thorough clean. There were visible pink bacterial stains on the toilet lid, and the shower also needed cleaning and maintenance, including recaulking. The windows were dirty and took away from the view. Information about amenities, locations, and procedures wasn't clearly provided. Without emails or other documentation, guests could have trouble finding important details when they arrive. Towers 1 and 2 don't have hot tubs, while Tower 3 and other properties offered more amenities. Some pool areas stayed closed during a reported tornado threat, even though pools at nearby properties seemed to be open. That added to the frustration. Between the cleanliness, maintenance, communication, and limited amenities, the property didn't meet our expectations for the amount we paid.

Calypso 208E was very spacious, nicely decorated, and furnished with what we needed. The large balcony was great, and the Calypso restaurant had one of the best burgers I've ever had. Our host responded promptly to questions and concerns. The teenagers loved being an easy walk from Pier Park. Mikeil/Michael at the front desk and check-in was outstanding. A few things didn't work as they should. The oven temperature display was broken, so we couldn't tell the exact temperature, and the balcony door was extremely hard to open. The VRBO listing said the third bedroom had two beds, but there was only one. It also said daily beach chair service, with an umbrella and two chairs, was included. Our host resolved that to our satisfaction, but VRBO should update the listing so it's accurate. For this rental price, parking should be free. The beach umbrellas and chairs should be set closer to the ocean. If they can't be moved, people shouldn't be allowed to set up umbrellas or tarps in front of the condo's beach chairs. Those chairs are fine, but things set up in front block the ocean view for the two or three rows of chair rentals behind them. By the way, VRBO refused to post my review, saying, “Your submission contains comments that are misleading or are inaccurate.” All the information I posted is accurate, though.

The resort was absolutely beautiful, with lots to do there and within walking distance. The pool's tiki bar was a nice perk. Our room was perfect and spacious for a girls' beach trip, with a wraparound balcony on the 20th floor where we could see everything. The ocean was rough, with double red flags for two of our four days, but you can't control Mother Nature. I'd definitely stay here again.

¡Todo esta bien! The condo was beautiful and had a phenomenal view. Staff were super friendly, and the location right across from Pier Park was perfect. There are two pools, a tiki bar, and great beach access, with chairs and umbrellas provided. We've stayed many times, the whole family was happy, and we'll keep booking here.
