Edgewater Golf Villa 2606

There are several tennis and pickleball courts, plus one very busy basketball hoop. Each section has small pools, and there’s also one large outdoor pool that’s slightly heated. The villas are across the street, reached by an over-highway walkway, so getting to the beach means a longer walk than we expected. Golf cart pickups are available at the start of each side road for rides to the beach. It’s an older complex, but it worked fine for us. Each condo is privately owned and rented, so there are lots of options.

Villa #2010 was old, ugly, dirty, and nothing like the pictures. The rugs were slippery and unsafe, the pans were too nasty to use, and the kitchen cabinets smelled awful. The curtains were torn and dirty, the sofa bed was dirty, and I had to buy an air mattress to sleep on. The laundry center didn’t work, and although we called the front desk on day one, nobody fixed it. There were electrical problems too: most outlets didn’t work properly, and the living room and bedroom lights were connected to extension cords because the switches were broken. The lighting was so poor I couldn’t get pictures that showed how dirty and run-down it was. For $350 a night, I expected at least a clean place. Stay away from this property.

I had to change rooms repeatedly during my stay, and the whole thing was handled reactively. When I got back from work one day, the code to my room wouldn’t let me in. Guest services said that room was temporary and I needed to return to my first room, though nobody had told me that. After they checked, they said the first room still wasn’t ready, so I could stay in room 2 until the next day, but I’d have to move before another guest arrived. The next day it still wasn’t ready, and they moved me to room 3 for three days, saying room 1 would be ready soon. It was only fixed two days before I left, so I had to move again before room 3’s next guest checked in. This started when I checked in at 5:30 pm and found a puddle in the bathroom. It took about two hours for someone to come look, and after five minutes he told me to call and say I had to move because he’d turned off the water heater. I gathered my things and made three trips with my groceries and clothes. I won’t stay here again or use southern vacation rentals. They weren’t proactive, always reactive.

We’re back at our favorite place, just two months after our last visit. It’s been a lovely fall stay with beautiful weather. I’m sharing photos from both balconies in the villa we’re in.
