The views were great, and I had a good time. There are three different pools and a hot tub, including a cool nine-foot-deep pool. Remember to wear your wristbands, since security is always around. There was an air show while we were there, and the planes were really loud, but it was great.
We live in Birmingham and drove over in February for some warmer weather, staying at Horizon South through Airbnb. It was a great winter getaway, even though the ocean was too cold for swimming. The community was clean and relaxing, with several big heated pools and jacuzzis. The beach and lots of restaurants are only a few minutes away. Great weekend break!
Herizon South is an older resort, but it's kept in good shape. There has been some construction over the past year, though they do a fantastic job keeping things nice while it's going on. I liked the four pools and hot tub, and the beach is just across the street, no more than a five-minute walk from most condos. I highly recommend it.
We paid 1300 for four nights after the booking said all amenities were included. Once there, we found out it costs another 20 or 25 per person just to be on the property. The house only holds five, but they booked us for seven. The unit was only somewhat clean, and we had no idea how to contact the owner, so we just had to accept another loss. Security had an attitude, and I'm not one to take attitude from people, so things got hostile fast. Terrible place. I'd stay somewhere else if I could.
These tiny one-bedroom units have seen better days. We owned at another property down here before, and have been coming back at least twice a year on business for 15-20 years, staying in many units. It's appalling to pay $25 for parking when the unit owners own the parking, then be charged another $20 per person for an arm band just to be on the property you're renting. They apparently require you to wear it even if you don't plan to use the kiddy golf, pools, or whatever else they're charging for. The HOA condo association makes it feel like you're being taken advantage of. Save your money and rent somewhere that doesn't extort you. Pitiful.
