The kids had fun in the pools, and getting to the beach was easy. The bartender at the Dolphin bar was friendly and gave great service, though I forgot her name. That's what earned the three stars. We had a good time, but wouldn't return. We stayed one night, and for the price I expected more. The pictures weren't accurate, and the place felt outdated and poorly maintained. Workers were using a jackhammer by the hot tub, making a lot of noise. The smell was awful: my daughter said the elevators and halls smelled like butt, the room smelled like wet dog, and the restroom smelled really bad. At the ice cream shop, a group of teenage boys, or maybe young men, seemed to be about to fight over missing things and hiding stuff. It wasn't okay with kids around.

We stayed at Sandpiper for four nights in April 2026 and had a partial beach view from the second floor. I'm in my 50s and my husband is in his 60s. The room was clean and basic but worked fine. It had a mini kitchen with a decent-sized fridge and all the basics for a meal, though we didn't cook. There's plenty to keep kids busy: a lazy river room, indoor pool, heated outdoor pool, hot tub with music, and a separate big outdoor slide. The outdoor pool was clean and comfortable. There was also a game room, ice cream and treat shop, a cute, thoughtfully stocked gift shop run by lovely women, a beach food hut with tasty quick meals, a big tiki bar with karaoke, outdoor couches and swings, and some grills. Front desk staff were responsive and attentive by text. Coconuts across the street does a great breakfast, and its later menu looked good too. Mike's Oyster Bar is walkable or a short rideshare away, and the food there was excellent. The beach was very clean, and you can rent chairs and an umbrella or bring your own. This isn't a luxury hotel, but we'd definitely return.

The setting was lovely, the rooms looked beautiful, and the tiki bar was fantastic. I liked the snack bar too, but it was closed most of the times I tried to go around lunch. The staff were often rude, and I had uncomfortable interactions with male staff and security who plainly stared and followed me. One of them kept asking for my number. Housekeeping banged on the door for five minutes before I was supposed to check out. The day before, it took 12 hours for a blanket to arrive. The elevator was painfully slow, barely worked, and stopped by itself on random floors. I enjoyed the stay overall, but the staff were a real letdown. They should replace them.

The room and hallways smelled awful, the bathroom light switches were filthy even after I tried to clean them, and the balcony concrete was embarrassingly dirty. This was supposed to be a nice trip for my wife and me and our son, celebrating our 7-year anniversary. We asked through Expedia whether the resort did anything special and got no reply. I work hard to give my family something good, but we were uncomfortable the whole time. I wasted a lot of money and could honestly cry. The payment was confusing too. Expedia showed I had paid a little over $900, and the receipt said around $262 plus $67 would be due at the resort, so I thought it was all covered. We've used Expedia for years. A few days before the trip, I called to confirm and the resort said the balance was $472 and they'd only received $841. My bank confirmed just $841 had been charged, even though Expedia's receipt showed over $900. Expedia wasn't helpful and flagged my account, so I had to pay another unexpected $200. I hate criticizing a business, especially as a small business owner, but this place was overpriced and nothing like the photos. Reviews made it sound good, but our experience was heartbreaking and disgraceful.

We spent four nights here as a family and loved having the beach access, three pools for the kids, and what we needed all in one place. It's not too far from anything else we might need, and we'd definitely come back. The one issue was noise from next door. The neighbors yelled and kept opening and closing their door all night, and you can hear the people beside you.
