Summer Breeze Motel

I was visiting a friend and only saw the place from outside, so I can’t really say what the rooms look like. From what I could see, it seemed like a basic, budget option for people who don’t want to pay for a big chain. The exterior and pool area aren’t anything special, but it’s relaxing and does the job.

My great uncle and aunt opened this hotel more than 30 years ago, though it’s no longer in the family. Seeing the recent reviews breaks my heart. They’d be devastated to know how poorly it’s being managed now.

The beds were made, clean, and comfortable, and the room seemed pretty decent at first. The bathroom was another story: there was mold on the walls and around the tub faucet, and we couldn’t tell which way to turn the handle for hot or cold water. The girl at the front desk could use an attitude adjustment, too. There wasn’t a lobby, so it felt weird giving my information outside. The pool was nice, though.

It’s very close to the beach without being right on it, and there’s a pool. The rooms were hot, but they brought us a fan. Someone else’s hair was on the wall, and the ice machine was out. At the pool, a liquor bottle had been broken, and the glass sat there most of the day. Some pieces ended up in the water, and my daughter and I stepped on them. They were good about making sure we had towels and toilet paper and about taking out the trash.
