La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Panama City

I’d been a fan of this La Quinta for years. During one storm season, we stayed while escaping a hurricane because the Hilton next door was fully booked, and we were impressed by the clean rooms and lovely breakfast. This most recent stay was horrible, though. The room was filthy, the lamp was broken, the phone unplugged, and there was thick dust on the lamp bases. Dirt and rubbish were piled in the bathroom corners, with long black hair on the floor and in the tub. The trash bin had dirty Q-tips that clearly weren’t ours, and the microwave was filthy. We won’t be back.

The staff were friendly, and the location made this a good-value stay. We’d come back. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, though the hot water was only a little above lukewarm. I also wasn’t told about the $5.66 nightly destination fee at check-in or on the Wyndham site where I booked. Neither issue was a huge deal, but they kept the room from earning five stars.

Miss Sandra welcomed me right away and was really courteous and helpful. The hotel was clean and looked well cared for, with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Breakfast was satisfying, and the pool and hot tub area had a lovely place to sit. I’d definitely book here again.
