Super 8 by Wyndham Panama City

The hotel's interior felt a little gloomy and out of date, and the rooms were just a bit short of being luxurious or comfortable. The best part was the service. Even in my short stay, the few employees I met were friendly, helpful, and knew the town well, including good places to eat and find entertainment.

If all you need is a cheap bed for one night, this room was perfectly acceptable for what we paid. Ours had been renovated, with fresh white linens, updated furniture, and a clean, updated bathroom and shower. The trouble starts outside the room: the shared spaces were outdated, dingy, and dirty. Breakfast was lacking, and the small pool area was packed with guests playing loud music, almost like a private party. I'd consider coming back if I had no other options and just needed somewhere inexpensive to sleep, but if your budget allows, keep looking.

The hotel is a little outdated, but we got a great deal for the price, and the service made up for it. I told the staff I had a 2 year old who mostly played on the floor and needed a tidy room. I also explained how bad my last hotel experience had been and that I hoped this year would go better. They really accommodated us and gave us a room I could tell had been remodeled, on the second floor right next to the vending machines inside. I walked up hoping it would be nice, and it was. We enjoyed our stay, and I have no complaints.

The hallways were damp and smelled bad, though the rooms smelled nice. We paid 148 for a Saturday night, and the room and bathroom were clean, with a TV, fridge, and microwave, plus breakfast in the morning. This is a typical Super 8. Reserve ahead if you can. We only got a room without reserving because someone ahead of us cancelled.
