Midwest inn motel

The owner didn’t seem to care when we brought up the bed bugs, half-full green pool, lack of Wi-Fi, and stained sheets and pillowcases. We almost didn’t get our money back, either. It took nearly half an hour of arguing before he agreed to refund us. This was by far the worst place I’ve ever stayed, and I won’t be back.

My husband and I both got bitten by bed bugs, and he got it worse than I did. The duvet was filthy, and one of the sheets had a streak of someone’s blood on it. The bedding felt like it had been used by several guests before us. I’d bet $300 the duvet hadn’t been washed in six months or more. The pillows looked dirty and were flat. I wanted to burn the bed and carpet. There weren’t many places to choose from, and maybe that’s why they don’t put much effort into this one. The bathroom and towels were clean, though the towels were thin. It was handy to have a TV, microwave, and refrigerator. The sink was oddly outside the bathroom, inside the room, but there was plenty of counter space. The old-fashioned air conditioner was easy to control and kept the temperature comfortable. The carpet definitely needs replacing, or at least a very thorough vacuuming and cleaning.

Randy and Ruth are both very kind, and the rooms are lovely and well kept. One of their former employees stole my engagement ring from the bathroom. I don’t blame Randy or Ruth at all, and the employee quit after doing it. Lanes is amazing. Highly recommend!

The place felt dated and overpriced, and the stained carpet and sheets didn’t seem clean. There was no hot water connected to the bathroom sink. I also left my phone charger behind, but they won’t mail it unless I send them something like a return box. We’ll never come back.
