The employees were all friendly and outstanding, but the hotel itself is a disaster waiting to happen. My wife nearly got shocked when sparks came from the iron plug. I believe the wiring is inadequate, the rooms are packed too tightly, and there aren’t enough exits. From the 16th floor, I saw no way a fire truck could reach a ladder to our room. I can’t believe this passed fire code. In my view, the fire danger is extreme and guests might not get out in time. The place should be closed until it’s rewired and adequate exits are installed. The hotel is gambling with people’s lives to avoid those costs. Don’t bring family or friends, and don’t ever stay here. This overcrowding isn’t unique to this hotel in Las Vegas. It comes from cramming far too many rooms into far too little space. It’s also the most overpriced hotel I’ve ever stayed in. The rooms are small, and the beds are broken down and very uncomfortable. There’s no free breakfast, and coffee costs $8.68 a cup, though many hotels provide it free. They add an expensive $49.99 resort fee per day that isn’t disclosed, and parking costs at least $20 a day even though many hotels include it. The major problems aren’t the employees’ fault.
The Linq Promenade runs right through the hotel area, with plenty of places to eat and shop, so I’d recommend checking it out. We picked this spot because it’s an easy walk to the Sphere, including a short, air-conditioned and pretty entertaining route through the Venetian. I usually stay at the opposite end of the Strip. Our room was quiet and really comfortable, with a Strip view. The bed and bedding were clean, soft, and cool, and the A/C got very cold. The bathroom and shower had plenty of room, though the water pressure was lousy. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash were already there. One place I’d skip is Guy. We tried it for brunch first, and it was a waste of money. The photos make it look great, but trust me, they don’t match the experience.
We stayed four days for CrimeCon, our first time at The Linq. Check-in was easy, and the room had enough space for a shorter visit. The sink and shower took a long time to get hot, but Hash House was delicious and its staff were fantastic. The Bell Desk held our bags for free after checkout, which made a huge difference. We had to leave early for Caesars and couldn’t collect our luggage until after 3, while our flight home wasn’t until 11:45pm on the red eye. The comfortable chairs by the TV also gave us somewhere to rest instead of spending hours on a plastic airport chair. We’re extremely grateful to The Linq and its very nice staff for those helpful extras.
The costs kept adding up: $50 a day for the resort fee, $20 daily parking, and $8.66 for a cappuccino. They charge for things that are complimentary at other hotels, while the service feels bare minimum. It came across like they were nickel-and-diming us at every turn. This didn’t feel like a 4-star hotel, maybe 3 at best, and the stay left me with a major ick feeling. There was a musty odor in our room and the A/C was noisy. A fire alarm went off at 10am on Saturday, which wasn’t great when we were trying to rest. The gym was below the usual apartment-gym standard, with dumbbells but creaky machines that need a major update. Service at the entrance also left a lot to be desired. Nobody greeted us or offered help with our bags, and there was very little staff interaction. The garage was cramped, and our room card wouldn’t open or exit it, so we had to call for assistance at the gate.
What makes The LINQ appealing is how much you can reach on foot. Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Wynn, and The Venetian are all a short walk away, and parking is included, which can save quite a bit in Las Vegas. The room was the letdown for what I paid. It was dark, basic, and cramped enough to make me feel boxed in. I was also surprised there wasn’t a refrigerator. I’d return for the location and parking convenience, but I expected better accommodations for the rate.
