At more than $1,000 a night, we expected a family-friendly ski base, but the apartment and the response from the host fell well short. Local VR was no help and took no responsibility when we raised the problems. Before booking, I’d get the details confirmed in writing or choose somewhere else, especially if you’re travelling with kids or need a good night’s sleep. Several advertised features were missing or unusable, including the ski storage and games room. The hot tub was outside the building, across a road, which didn’t feel suitable for children even though it was presented as an amenity. There were also maintenance and safety issues inside: the dishwasher drawer was broken, some lights didn’t work, the TVs weren’t functioning, and wiring was exposed. Two of the three bedrooms had no curtains or blinds, so there was little privacy or darkness. Loud music from a nearby nightclub carried on until about 1am, making it impossible to sleep before then. The local property manager, Miguel, accepted no responsibility for any of it.
Being just two flights of stairs from the town lift made getting to the ski slope easy, and Main Street was right there too. We stayed in unit G at the Blue Church Lodge this past week and had a wonderful time. The place was beautifully decorated and well equipped. The living room felt cozy, the beds were very comfortable, and although the kitchen was compact, it had what we needed. Even the bathroom floors were heated, and there were towel warmers. We’d happily come back, and I highly recommend it.
After skiing, it was great to have bars and restaurants right below the Blue Church, and we made use of the community hot tub a few times. Getting out to ski was just as easy, with rentals and the old town lift a short walk down the hill. We spent three nights in unit E. It was clean and well appointed, and the converted church has loads of character. The location makes it easy to enjoy everything Park City has to offer. Highly recommended.
The location was convenient, but our Christmas vacation at Blue Church Lodge the week after Christmas 2021 turned into a string of problems. We spent the trip trying to get things fixed and never got to relax or enjoy the place we’d paid too much for. We asked to move, and were told they were checking, but nobody called us back. We had to keep chasing them. They eventually refunded two nights out of our six, which was okay, but the stay was still a very disappointing vacation. A working kitchen and a warm, dry room are basic expectations, and the advertised amenities weren’t available. On the first night, it was terribly cold inside and out. We later realized the upstairs skylights were letting snow into the rooms. One was stuck open and was eventually repaired; the other leaked and was duct-taped shut. Everything below the windows got wet. The management company sent a couple of people who weren’t maintenance staff, and they taped the windows and left. Maintenance came the next day, closed one skylight, and taped the other again because it couldn’t be fixed. There were other problems too. The oven didn’t work, so management brought a toaster oven. The fire alarm batteries died and chirped through the night and into the next day, about 12 hours before they were finally replaced. The master bedroom baseboard radiator had no cover, so we were uncomfortable closing the curtains over it because of the fire risk. On day four, they brought a cover, but it didn’t fit or cover the radiator fully. The common-area fireplace didn’t work, and a note said not to use the hot tub. Smaller issues included a broken downstairs bathroom toilet paper holder and hair on the shower walls.
Main Street is very close, and so are the nightclubs, so bring earplugs if you want to sleep before 1am. There’s potential here, but the property felt dated, poorly maintained, and badly managed. I wasn’t impressed and would stay elsewhere unless there were no other options. The room and some common areas were dirty, as shown in the pictures. In unit F, the bed was uncomfortable and, in my opinion, needs replacing. The bathtub wouldn’t drain, and the towels seemed to have bleach left in them, which burned our skin. Much of the property was in disrepair. The management company initially charged my card nearly $400 without explanation. To their credit, they refunded it after I emailed. I checked the front desk several times and never found anyone there, and I couldn’t verify with the state, but the displayed business license looked very expired. I’m still not sure who runs the place.
