We had schnitzel and fondue after a long day skiing, sitting in those beautiful embroidered wraparound chairs by the fireplace. They were incredibly comfortable. The fondue was unlike any we've tried before, really good, with maybe more wine and some good cheeses, and it was a large portion. The food and service were excellent, and this restaurant knows quality. It felt comfortable and was worth the price, unlike some places this close to the mountain that are expensive without being good.
The location at Goldener Hirsch (Auberge) in Deer Valley is hard to beat, and the warm, elevated atmosphere starts at check-in. They seated us by the lobby fireplace, offered hot tea or water, and checked us in right there. Getting onto the slopes is easy: cross a small alley and climb a short flight of stairs. Hotel ski rentals were simple to arrange, Christy Sports is about a one-minute walk from the lifts, and the second-floor ski lockers with Ski Butler and ski concierge help make mornings smoother. Our balcony room felt a little cramped for two adults with luggage. The entry and bathroom had decent space, but moving around the sleeping area was tight. The beds were extremely comfortable, and there were thoughtful extras like turndown service, complimentary electrolyte packets, Nespresso, and Rishi tea. We spent time in the cozy second-floor lounge by the fireplace, a nice place for evening cocktails or food from The Kitz, the small alpine café. The café's granola, yogurt, and fruit were good, and the coffee choices were great. The breakfast burrito was fine, the grilled cheese was okay, the charcuterie was good, and the pretzel was a fun treat. Lobby cocoa in the afternoon was lovely, and evening s’mores upstairs made for a fun après touch. The food was more mixed at The Hirsch. We tried the fondue at dinner and thought it was just okay. Two other couples we talked with also felt the food missed the mark. One mentioned that the avocado toast or tomato wasn't fresh and that the bread fell flat. The jacuzzi and hot tub were a great feature, the gym was excellent, and the dry sauna felt amazing after skiing. Most of our communication was through text concierge, which worked fine. Lio deserves a special mention, truly exceptional, and somehow remembers everyone's name. We also made good use of the shuttle, which takes you within a few miles. Park City Main Street is just minutes away, and we rode it to dinners in town and even to ice skating at the base of Park City Mountain, which was really fun. For a quick bite right off the lift, Silver Lake Restaurant is a handy cafeteria with salads, soups, coffee, beer, pizza, fries, and more. We booked a large SUV through ProTrans Transportation for the round trip between SLC and the hotel, about a 45-minute drive. The price was great, and it made arrival and departure easy for our group of 4 adults with skis and luggage. Off property, Yuki Yama Sushi, a short shuttle ride to Main Street, was outstanding, and we also really enjoyed Riverhorse on Main. Reservations are needed at both, especially during ski season. The room size and layout for our category and the inconsistent food at The Hirsch were the main drawbacks. Otherwise, the location, cozy lounge, service, and amenities were excellent.
Anastasia and Katerina made my time by the pool memorable. My phone died while I was reading a book about hospitality, and I was left wondering whether to go home or find a charger. They were warm and welcoming, and even tracked one down so I could keep relaxing with my book. It might sound like a small thing, but that kind of thoughtful care says a lot about the place. The pool itself is a peaceful, luxurious escape and a real hidden gem in Park City. Thanks to the staff for a visit that felt so welcoming and stayed with me.
The rooms are very nice, and there's a cafe bar on the second floor for coffee and other amenities. This well-designed resort feels top of its class, with staff, personnel, and management making sure you're well looked after and have an unforgettable stay. A great stay!
We'd been wanting to stay here for a while, and we're so glad we finally did. The location is incredible, with a family-friendly feel as well as plenty of space and activities for adults. Our children were welcomed with adorable stuffed animals, and our room was spacious and clean. The rooftop pool was dreamy. Everyone was attentive and friendly, from valet and concierge to housekeeping, and they didn't miss a detail. This is absolutely the place to stay for skiing in Utah.
