Canterbury Inn & Suites

This is the worst motel stay I’ve had in over 30 years on the road. I stayed seven nights for work, sharing a room with a coworker, and should’ve moved somewhere else, but after four or five days it felt like too much hassle. I couldn’t lock the door during the day because the card lock didn’t work. The owner said he’d tried to fix it, but didn’t offer another room until my last night. On the fourth night I asked for fresh towels and got thin ones barely bigger than hand towels. After they were left, I found a set of earbuds I’d just bought was missing. I told the owner, but nothing was done. I know I cursed at him after getting frustrated. This place is now called Hastings inn.

Pets are always welcome here, and the weekly rate is great. It’s easy to find and convenient, and the front desk staff are friendly and helpful.

It’s an older motel that could use updates inside and out, but for $45 I felt it was well worth it and I’d come back. The place was clean, including the crisp, clean bedding. The bed was very comfortable and I slept well. The variety was old but in good shape. Breakfast was basic, just cereal and a bagel, which was about what I expected at that price. I only wish there’d been a hair dryer.

The king suite was huge and had a full kitchen, though it only came with a pot and a frying pan. The king bed was so comfortable, but the pullout sofa wasn’t great. This was our second stay here for business, and I’d definitely recommend the place. We’ll be back.
